Director of Finance

Elo is a small company looking for a Director of Finance, our first finance hire. An ideal candidate will be willing to assume a broad range of responsibilities including financial analysis, modeling, accounting, oversight, and play a significant strategic role with the company. This position will report directly to company officers and is a great opportunity for personal and professional growth as the company expands.

This is a full time remote position open to candidates in the United States. Bonus points if you’re in Austin, TX.


This position has a wide range of responsibilities:

  1. Accounting
    1. Maintain GAAP financials in QuickBooks
    2. Process incoming invoices and expense reports, send payments
    3. Create customer invoices, ensure payments are received
    4. Ensure the company is operating in a tax-efficient manner
    5. Coordinate all audit and tax preparation activities
  2. Budgeting and reporting
    1. Produce and maintain company and departmental budgets
    2. Produce financial reports for company management, board of directors, and related 3rd parties
    3. Recommend, develop, and maintain best practices related to budgeting and reporting
  3. Modeling and forecasting
    1. Create and maintain detailed models including both business metrics and financial data
    2. Build comprehensive models and projections for existing business operations and projects
    3. Perform detailed analysis of potential partnerships, acquisitions, mergers, and new opportunities
  4. Strategy
    1. Oversee and make recommendations related to the general financial health of the company
    2. Advise the company officers on matters related to proper use of cash, fundraising, and investments
    3. Provide advise and insight for business development and strategic partnership matters
    4. Work with sales and product teams to structure partner agreements
  5. Operations and Administration
    1. Maintain payroll and benefits programs
    2. Implement and maintain best pest practices for processes like expense reports
    3. Ensure the company is complying with state and federal laws and regulations
    4. Advise and oversee choices for internal processes and external vendor

Bonus points for experience with the following:

  1. First hand experience with esports, gaming, technology, online advertising, or media
  2. Growing a small company and implementing infrastructure (payroll, benefits, etc)
  3. Managing and growing a staff, especially one with international contributors
  4. Designing bonus and performance incentive compensation plans
  5. Mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and joint ventures
  6. Sales teams and compensation structures
  7. Fundraising
